During Tournament Responsibilities In Person

During Tournament 

  • Ensure that each Community Judge receives the “Red Carpet Treatment”
  • Lead
    • Serve as the main point of contact between the JS team, the Ballot Admin Lead, the Judge Welcome Lead, and the Judge Recruiting Lead. 
  • Communication
    • Staff Dashboard
      • Log into Staff Dashboard at: https://ncfca-staff.ncfca.org

      • Monitor and continuously update the Judge Tracking tab of the Judge Management Tab, ensuring communication about progress of Community Judges in the ballot selection process.
        • Arrived judges should have “yes” under ballot
        • Check boxes for judges requesting device (see CJ Device Request Log)
        • Add comments as needed
    • POC in Google “Platform” Group
      • Judge Account Issues (passwords, profile/account issues, etc)
      • Platform issues
      • Questions regarding how to do your role

*tournament specific questions should be addressed by the Region Coordinator.

  • Ballot Admin Lead
    • Manual Ballot adjustments
      • Contact the BA Lead to request a judge to be manually added
    • New Community Judge Sign-up
      • BA will need to re-toggle the groups when a CJ newly registers for a round
    • Removing a judge
      • If a judge discovers a conflict, contact BA Lead to have judge removed
    • Ballot Completion Status
      • Keep BA apprised to status of judges in room completing ballots
  • Manage the Judge Hospitality Room
    • Maintain a quiet space for judges
    • Keep table conversations to a minimum
    • Ensure questions are appropriately answered by either the JS or redirected to the Compliance Team 
  • Monitor Round Status (Ballot Admin)
    • Loaded Groups
      • 1 = Registered Community Judges and Alumni
      • 2 = Registered Alumni (with competing siblings) and other pre-registered
      • 3 = Everyone else (Designated Adults, Chaperones, non-registered CJs and Alumni)
    • Round Start Time
      • Communicate to Judges when they need to be ready
    • Open Rooms
      • Judges should see ballots when this is toggled
  • Help with Balloting
    • Assist Ballot Admin by finding available judges
    • Crunch time - help the BA Lead
      • Observe needs under “judges”
      • Communicate “available” ballots with team
      • Share potential names with the BA Lead (if judges are unable to see the ballot in ballot selection)
    • Assign team members to take a ballot as needed.
  • End of Day
    • Confirm the receipt of all devices and charge them
    • Have team help reset the JH tables (remove garbage, push in chairs, etc)
    • Straighten up the Judge Support Tables
  • Finals Round
    • Assign team members to work with judges post Speech Finals round
    • Assign team members to pack up JS supplies/devices and complete inventory
    • Assign team members (2) to assist Debate Finals Judges before and after the round (this should be yourself and one other team member.
  • End of Tournament
    • Confirm the transport of the supplies to the next tournament
    • Return completed inventory form to Logistics
