Preparing for the tournament
- Safety Requirements for Tournament Staff
- Watch required safety videos
- Read any required safety training materials
- Read NCFCA Safety Policy and sign acknowledgement and agreement statement in the appendix
- Read SRP and view videos linked in SRP doc
- Review the “More than Two Rule”
- The “More than Two Rule” applies to the Prep Room.
- In-Person tournaments: NCFCA parents and chaperones should not enter a competition room where there is only one student present. In the same manner, a student should not enter a competition room where there is only one non-family adult present.
- Online Tournaments: Competitors should keep microphones muted and cameras off until there are more than two attendees present in a competition room.
- Check Prep Room to ensure it has the number of chairs and tables you will need.
- Chair count is equal to the number of active Extemp Competition Rooms x 2, plus any chairs required for the Extemp Prep Team
- Competitors, Extemp Prep Team members, and personal devices all require table space
- Example: For 5 rooms, you will need space for 10 students at once.
- 1 competitor prepping (requires a seat at the table)
- 1 competitor setting up to prepare (requires a seat at the table)
- 1 finished competitor returning to collect personal items (no seat needed)
- Coordinate with Facilities if needed
- Example: For 5 rooms, you will need space for 10 students at once.
