There is no rule prohibiting this. If an EPL suspects a competitor was gone for an unusual amount of time, then EPL should note that time and report it to Compliance.
The Extemp Prep Team provides supervision for Extemporaneous students during their preparation time. We serve as proctors in the Prep Room to ensure all students have the opportunity to prepare without distraction. The Extemp Prep Lead (EPL) will serve as the main point of contact for the team when communicating with other departments.

There is not a set rule, but we must ensure we are following the facility rules regarding food in rooms and that there isn’t undue distraction to the other competitors.

Competitors are responsible for their own devices and software. EPT do not provide assistance.
There should be a Comms staff member nearby the door to “escort” the student as needed. If the facility has special logistics needs this should be discussed prior to tournament start, and any unusual occurrences should be reported to the RC. The answer to the competitor would be that we request he/she wait for Comms if at all possible.
