Compliance

A training resource for Teams and Leads

Pre-tournament Preparation

You’ve said “yes” to volunteering in the Compliance department for the upcoming tournament, but how do you prepare? Please review the following material before the tournament, and then start to preview the whole Compliance Leader and Team course. Once at the tournament, the Compliance Lead* will walk you through the different processes in this course.

  1. Safety Protocols and Training (see Safety Protocol & Training module)
  2. Equipment Needed
  3. Meeting Space Set up
  4. Review resources

*If you are a Compliance Lead, your Regional Compliance Coordinator will train you on all the processes addressed in this course.

Equipment and Material Requirements

  • Computer or tablet to monitor the tournament platform
  • Personal cell phone to communicate with team members and possibly participants regarding compliance issues
  • Professional attire appropriate for family meetings and judge interaction

Meeting Space Setup

  • For in-person tournaments, the Compliance Lead (CL) and team will set up the Compliance Room, the Family Meeting Room, the Evidence Review area, and the Compliance Team (CT) station in the Judge area. The Compliance station should be located in an area that prohibits viewing of team members’ open laptops. The Logistics Coordinator will provide signage for these areas.

For online tournaments, the CL will set up a Zoom Meeting room as a virtual Compliance room for the tournament. Because the CT will need to periodically leave and enter the Zoom call, ‘waiting’ should be disabled and 'passcode' added.
