Compliance

A training resource for Teams and Leads

Safety Protocol and Training

For training purposes, all tournament teams will be required to watch a video and/or read other training materials regarding abuse prevention and child safety.

All employees and volunteers will be required to read the NCFCA Safety Policy and sign the Worker Acknowledgement and Code of Conduct in the Safety Policy (Appendix C).

Notable for the Compliance role, care will be given to ensure the following:

  1. Communications for Family Meetings (FM) are directed only to the parent (or designated adult).

  2. Debate Evidence Reviews (DER) are the only communication from the Compliance Team that includes both competitors and parents.  Only competitors are required to attend, but parents are also contacted in accordance with the NCFCA Child Safety Policy (p.8).

  3. Compliance Team (CT) will be cognizant of the different applications of the “more than two” rule, including being mindful that while parents and competitors may be left alone in a room, non-family designated adults or coaches should not be left alone with a single competitor. (NCFCA Child Safety Policy, p. 6)

  4. If there is a need for a Compliance interview that requires questions of a sexual nature with a student or team, at least one (but preferably both) adult representing the Compliance Team should be of the same gender as the student being questioned. (NCFCA Child Safety Policy, p. 8)
