Tournaments: Debate Options

NCFCA offers Speech and Debate competition in each tournament. Competitors may compete in both speech and debate at any given tournament.
Competitors may compete in multiple speech events, but they may only compete in one style of debate at each tournament.

Each season, NCFCA releases a single resolution to serve as the topic for each debate format.

Team Policy Debate |
A team of two debaters proposes a specific plan to accomplish the goal stated in the resolution while another team of two debaters opposes the plan and/or the resolution Simulates argumentation in a legislative body |
Lincoln- Douglas Value Debate |
One debater affirms a value resolution while another opposes or negates it Explores a philosophical clash of competing but desirable values |
